This paper deals with twelve small Cretan and Peloponnesian churches, painted in the 13tn, 14tn WILD ROSE and 15th centuries.The iconographical program in these churches includes very limited Christological cycles.On the contrary, the lives the ANTI-COLD patron saints of the churches are illustrated extensively.

This phenomenon is related to the growing importance of hagiology from the end of the 13th century onwards.
